Being Silly...With Lady Agnew!

Finished the Lady Agnew painting! Felt like goofing off a bit so we grabbed this photo. Definitely a wild ride to paint this; it's not easy on the ego comparing yourself to Sargent while you paint. I'm not kidding myself; his painting is superior to mine in nearly every aspect, but I feel like I came out with some valuable insight into his methods.

I remember seeing the original Lady Agnew painting at a big Sargent show in the 1980's hosted by the Whitney Museum in New York City. There were so many of his original paintings on exhibit I lost count. When I stood in front of Lady Agnew (my favorite of his paintings) I was frozen. I was able to study his brush strokes and execution. I visited the show four more times after that. Keep up the great work.
