Painting Outdoors: Studies

I refer to plein air painting often in my video commentaries. Here are some of my studies. This is where I do 99% of my learning about light and colour. In my opinion, nature is the best teacher, and you don't get charged tuition either.

Thanks for sharing, it's neat to see how your style carries over from your traditional to digital pieces. I see a similar quality to the brush strokes, I really dig it.

What medium did you use for these paintings?

Really like the simplicity of these. There's something really peaceful about them.

Great stuff!

Justin - these are oil on masonite board. I do a double coat of smooth acrylic gesso to prime the board.

Beautiful, I guess you're also a fan of Richard Schmid when I look at your use of edges.

Eric - thanks (and good eye!). Richard's edge work is some of my favourite. His paintings definitely have influenced the way I look at nature.
