Traditional Studies

I love digital painting. But I'm a firm believer in getting out there doing life sketches with traditional media. It feels like going to the gym or something. I also find it the most difficult, and I often fail even on the best of days. These are a few paintings which I think have a small grain of potential. They're all oils, except for the three small gouache sketches on the bottom left. Guys like Nathan Fowkes are pure inspiration for this kind of stuff.

here here!!! to Nathan Fowkes.. I like your entry here ....for those who have read my book I believe polishing the fundamentals, working on your location sketches, and drawing the figure and animals from life is like weightlifting for a football player..you will not get paid for it. but its gotta be done to stay in the game....

nicely done my friend...
