DrawerGeeks: Monster Engine
This was some of the most fun I've had painting. The topic was inspired from illustrator Dave Devries' publication of paintings based on children's artwork. We were provided with a few kid drawings to choose from, and were encouraged to just go to town with it. The original drawing was done by Caleb Conrad. It already had an appealing silhouette, so my job was easy!

This is such a great idea. I have a friend also from Toronto who showed me a similar thing a long time ago but I totally forgot about it. There' something fresh and dynamic with kids' drawings but it takes a talent to translate it to what you've got here. great job!...btw I'm linking you up, Marco.

Thanks guys! Anders - unfortunately, I don't know Caleb personally...I just know his name. I was wondering this same thing myself though. Would he approve of my work? Or would he not even recognize it? This excersize is pretty insightful on how age and experience influences the way we view images.

I've seen some of this stuff before, always results in some mad pieces of artwork. There was fanously a superheroes show done themed on it, goodness knows where it is but its online somewhere.
